Daylight Factor test
The test will consist in finding the configuration of window size and shading device size having to respect one assigned parameters (e.g. window height) to obtain an assigned value of Daylight Factor.

Rhinoceros (3D modeling)
Grasshopper (parametric design)
DIVA (daylight design)

Operating system
For the course it is possible to use only Windows and not Mac laptops. The 3D and parametric software runs on both Windows and Mac OS operating systems, but the daylight simulation software runs only on Windows computers.

To download and install all the necessary software and components follow the following steps:

1 – Rhinoceros. 3D modeling software (website http://www.rhino3d.com/). Download an evaluation version of Rhino 6 from the webpage https://www.rhino3d.com/download . Rhino 6 is only 64bit, if your computer has a 32bit operating system then you have to use Rhino 5 (available for download on the same web page). Together with the installation of Rhino 6 the parametric/generative design software Grasshopper is installed. If you installed a version of Rhino 5 then you need to download and install Grasshopper separately from the following link http://www.grasshopper3d.com/page/download-1.

2 - DIVA. Daylight design software (website https://www.solemma.com/Diva.htmlfor Rhinoceros and Grasshopper . Download from the webpage http://www.solemma.net/Download.html fill the required information and chose the version 64bit if you have installed Rhino 6 (because you have a Windows operating system at 64 bit) or chose the version 32bit if you have installed Rhino 5 at 32bit (because you have a Windows operating system at 32bit). The .exe file of the installation contain DIVA and the daylight simulation software Radiance that will be installed automatically. After having finished the installation the tab of DIVA will be available in Grasshopper.
